Direct reduced iron is a low-carbon porous product obtained by low-temperature reduction of iron ore (or iron oxide pellets) in a rotary furnace, shaft furnace, or another form of the reactor. Because the reduced iron powder is a porous substance, it is easy to oxidize and absorb water, which is not conducive to transportation and storage. The crushed reduced iron can be pressed into high-density briquettes without any additives. After the sponge iron or sponge iron briquette is pressed into shape, the oxidation resistance of the reduced iron is improved, the water absorption is reduced, and the volume is reduced. It is conducive to long-term storage, long-distance transportation, and direct smelting of sponge iron, which greatly reduces the cost.
